Grants

Harrogate Town Council is keen to support organisations and projects that make a positive contribution to our town and its residents.

Our approach is guided by our Vision & Values, including our ambition for Harrogate to be a thriving, inclusive and forward-looking town — one that is proud of its past, vibrant in the present and confident in its future.

We recognise that community groups, charities and partner organisations often require different forms of support when developing projects and so we have adopted a Protocol for Requests for Support from External Organisations.

This policy sets out how the Council approaches requests from other organisations in a transparent, fair and proportionate way. It also sets out the different forms of support which may be available from Harrogate Town Council.

SMALL GRANTS SCHEME

For the 2026/27 period we have developed a small grants scheme to support local organisations delivering projects, events and services that benefit Harrogate residents.

There are two funding pots available.

  • General grants (£24,045) for community activities and small projects.
  • An Infrastructure/Capital pot (£50,000).
Individual awards will not normally exceed £5,000.

Formally constituted community, voluntary, charitable and not-for-profit organisations, usually based within the Harrogate Town Council boundary, can apply to our grants scheme.

Applications are being accepted up to the 15th September 2026. They will then be considered at a committee meeting on 11th November, with applicants advised of outcomes by the end of November 2026. Grants must normally be spent within two years (by 30th November 2028).

If you need help applying, or the application form in an alternative format, then please email grants@harrogatetowncouncil.gov.uk or call 01423 642542.
