Paula began her career as a drama teacher before retraining as a counsellor and later becoming a senior manager and independent consultant in local government. Over the years, she has worked in local, regional and national roles, specialising in organisational change and service improvement. A strong advocate for partnership and collaboration, Paula has led numerous projects with the voluntary sector and across health and social care to enhance community outcomes.
Having lived in Harrogate for over 11 years, Paula has deep local ties. Her Leeds-based grandchildren regard Harrogate as their second home, and her grandson attended a local high school, played for community football clubs, and joined Harrogate Harriers. Paula believes passionately in the power of sport to build confidence and wellbeing, both for young people and older generations.
Paula remains actively involved in the community. She has served as an expert by experience for the Care Quality Commission, was a member of the North Yorkshire Police, Fire and Crime Panel for five years, and currently serves as a trustee of Harrogate Theatre and Chair of Harrogate Film Society.
Her goals include promoting collaboration across arts, culture, heritage and sport, enriching opportunities for older people, and expanding community activities for 12–18-year-olds.
