Jenny Travena

I was born in Bradford in 1947, where I trained as a physiotherapist. I married John and we subsequently went to live in Norway where I worked as a physio for 7 years.

I returned to in 1984 and lived in Harrogate where I continued to work as a physio, in the NHS, for the last twenty years I worked in mental health services in the community until I retired in 2002.

I was always interested in politics and after completing a BSc honours degree with the Open University, I went on to undertake, part time, an MA in the Politics of International Resources and Development at the Politics Department of Leeds University.

I joined the Liberal Democrat party when Phil Willis was the MP in Harrogate, and was elected councillor for Harrogate Borough Council in 2011, and served until 2018, when HBC was reduced from 54 to 40 councillors.

The formation of the new Harrogate Town Council inspired me to become politically active again, and to stand for election in Fairfax Ward, where I have lived since 1984.
