Chris was first elected to the former Harrogate Borough Council, representing Fairfax ward, in 2018. Following Local Government Reorganisation, he has represented High Harrogate & Kingsley on North Yorkshire Council since 2022.
He worked as a Local Government Officer for 23 years, for Councils in West Yorkshire, Cheltenham, and Skipton, mainly as an Arts/ Events / Tourism Officer. He was the first Town Centre Manager of Skipton, a post that involved running Skipton’s famous Market, as well as leading the successful campaign for a Skipton BID, the first rural Business Improvement District in the UK. He has also worked as Administrator of Bradford Cathedral, Security Officer at the Convention Centre, cleaner at the Army Foundation College and as a Traffic Warden in Harrogate.
Chris currently sits on the North Yorkshire Police, Fire & Crime Panel and is the Councils representative on the national PATROL (Parking Regulations Outside London) committee. He has been a Trustee of Harrogate Theatre since 2024.
Away from his (many !) Council commitments, he is a keen supporter of both Leeds United & Harrogate Town. He is on target to complete 500 Parkruns on The Stray during 2026. Chris is married to Sue, with one Cat – Princess Zelda.
