Harrogate Residents Invited to Help Shape the Future of Local Transport

Harrogate Residents Invited to Help Shape the Future of Local Transport

Have your say on the future of transport in Harrogate at a free community event on 22nd September. Discover local transport options, meet organisations working to improve sustainable travel, and learn more about the York and North Yorkshire Local Transport Plan consultation at the Great Harrogate Transport Fair

Local residents are being invited to explore the future of transport in Harrogate at a free community event on Tuesday 22nd September, including a presentation about the York and North Yorkshire Mayor’s new Local Transport Plan, delivered directly by the Combined Authority team. The Great Harrogate Transport Fair, organised by Zero Carbon Harrogate, will take place at West Park Centre on Victoria Avenue from 5pm, and will bring together local transport organisations and community groups to showcase practical ways to travel around Harrogate and Knaresborough.

From representation of cargo bikes and public transport to active and accessible travel, visitors will be able to discover local transport options, meet organisations working to improve sustainable travel and find out more about the choices available locally.

From 7pm, the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority team will present the Mayor’s new Local Transport Plan, which sets out the region’s priorities for transport and is currently open for public consultation.

The plan will shape investment and transport priorities across York and North Yorkshire, making the event an opportunity for residents and local people to find out what is proposed and have their say on the future of transport in the area.

Sunita Soundur, Climate Action Coordinator at Zero Carbon Harrogate, said:

“This is a chance for Harrogate residents to see what’s already happening, discover some of the options available to them and, most importantly, have a say in what transport should look like in our town in the years ahead. We want people to come along, explore, ask questions and be part of the conversation.”

The event is designed to be positive, practical and accessible, bringing together community organisations, transport providers and decision-makers in one place.

As well as local people, we hope that we will see Councillors, representatives from the Town Council and businesses in attendance.

The Great Harrogate Transport Fair is free and open to all.
